Under the Copyright Act, a perceptual disability is defined as a disability that prevents or limits a person’s ability to read or hear a literary, musical, dramatic, or artistic work in its original format. This includes disabilities resulting from:

  • Severe or total impairment of sight or hearing, or the inability to focus or move one’s eyes
  • The inability to hold or manipulate a book
  • An impairment related to comprehension
