We’ve been working hard behind the scenes since our Student Feedback Lunch back in February to implement the many great suggestions we received. While action on some suggestions will require more time, we are happy to report progress on a number of fronts! You can also see our first Student Feedback Lunch Update from a few weeks ago in which we highlighted a few of our existing services and resources you may not have known about.

Replacement of Library computer mice and keyboards Photograph of students using desktop computers at Coquitlam campus library

Our partners in CEIT (Centre for Educational and Information Technology) dropped by both libraries to check on and replace mice and keyboards that weren’t working perfectly. We’ll be monitoring on a regular basis to make sure everything is in tip-top shape!

Connecting with instructors

We heard from students that they felt it would be beneficial to them and their classmates if instructors shared more information about library services and resources with them. To this end, we’ve stepped up communication and outreach to faculty, including organizing sessions for faculty to drop-in and hear directly from librarians about what we have available for them and their students.

New charging options for more devices

Everyone needs juice for their devices! We’ve added more portable battery packs and have charging cables to connect to most Android and Apple iPhones. We’ve also added extra Apple USB-C device power adapters, a new universal charging kit with 15 tips that should work with most laptops, and a Microsoft Surface power supply - and all are available at either campus!

Longer loans for equipment

We’ve extended the loan period for equipment items like calculators and phone chargers from 4 to 5 hours to give you more time to use them in classes and labs that might run for close to 4 hours at a time – not to mention the walk to and from a class at Anvil Tower up and down a giant hill!

Removal of the annoying swinging gate!

Was your focus ever interrupted by the clunking sound of the gate between the Check-Out Desk and the Students Helping Student IT Desk swinging? When we heard that annoying sound was impacting students trying to work in the library, we decided it was time for it to go. We’ve removed the eternally swinging, noisy gate and it is definitely more peaceful here without it!
