Call for Women’s History Month Book Talkers!
Wednesday, October 19, 2022

October is Women’s History Month in Canada, a month-long celebration of the outstanding achievements of women throughout Canada’s history.

The Library is excited to announce plans for a book talk this fall on Wednesday, October 19th, 2022 from 3:30pm to 5:00pm via Zoom.  What is a book talk? For more information, check out our PDF iconTips for a Great Book Talk.pdf.

This event will focus on women’s stories and voices and will be an opportunity for all attendees to learn about and recommend great reads by and about fabulous women in our Douglas College Library collection, This event is open to everyone including Douglas College students, employees, and alumni.

We are seeking 7-8 Douglas College community members to kick off this event by doing a book talk (about three minutes long) on a book that they have read and loved that is a biography, autobiography, or memoir written by or about a woman and is in our Library collection. What’s the difference between these genres? Read all about it in this quick guide.

You can view a PDF iconlist of suggested books or you can search our catalogue. If the book you want to share with others is not currently part of our collection, email us and we will do our best to obtain a copy!  Similar to our previous book talk events, after the book talks we'll have a discussion with all the attendees, allowing any and all to share a book they're reading/have read with others.

If you are interested in being a book talker, please apply here. The deadline for applications is September 27th, 2022.

Please email Alex at dobrea@douglascollege.ca if you have any questions. Looking forward to hearing from you!
