COVID-19Summer Service Updates

Though our Library and Learning Centre locations continue to remain closed to ensure the health and safety of staff and students, we are operating fully online. We have a vast aray of electronic collections and we encourage you to connect with us online

Library Collections

All physical Library collections (print books, CDs/DVDs, course reserves, equipment, etc.) are suspended until further notice.

Online collections are accessible from the Douglas College Library home page. Search for eBooks through the library catalogue and journal articles by using OneSearch or a specialized database.

All items currently out on loan have been automatically renewed and you can keep them until we reopen. Your Library Account reflects the changes.

Fines are suspended until further notice.

No longer needed library materials can be kept until we re-open or be returned via the external book drops at either library location. To return equipment, contact a guard at the Security booth and they will arrange to open the Library so you can leave your media equipment securely.

Interlibrary Loans

Canadian interlibrary loan systems have reduced, or ceased, their services which limits what we can obtain for our students, faculty, and staff.  Since we can no longer obtain physical items from other libraries, requests for physical items will be temporarily unavailable. Similarly, requests from other libraries for Douglas Library materials will also be unavailable.

Requests for articles, chapters, and the like, will continue with delivery in digital formats to the extent possible.

To our ILL borrowing libraries, please hold on to our items (and we will hold on to yours) until such time as we can re-open our library. For questions, please contact Christine Fojas.

Research Help

The library has many research guides to help you get started with your research and using the best sources. You can connect online with a librarian in severl ways:

Online Instruction for Faculty

All in-person library instruction has been suspended until further notice, however we have moved to a online model, bringing together resources that can be used by your students asynchronously. Book an online learning session at the library, also please see our Teaching and Learning Online guide including resources for Douglas College faculty as they move to online instruction. For additional information, please contact Shannon Moist.

Equipment & Space

Equipment lending at both Douglas College locations is suspended until we re-develop our service model.

If you require access to a computer lab, please check the College website for room availability on the day of the visit, and call Security at the specific campus for confirmation on the access points. There is limited access to the College at the moment.

Learning Centre

As Douglas College transitions to online classes, the Learning Centre has moved all of the tutoring online to continue to support you in your learning.
