COVID-19Summer Service Updates

Though our Library and Learning Centre locations continue to remain closed to ensure the health and safety of staff and students, we are operating fully online. We have a vast aray of electronic collections and we encourage you to connect with us online

Library Collections

Online collections are accessible from the Douglas College Library home page. Search for eBooks through the library catalogue and journal articles by using OneSearch or a specialized database.

Physical collections

We are happy to announce that we have put in place a library takeout service to allow all our currently registered students and employees a chance to access the books and DVDs in our collection.

If you’re looking for something from our Equipment and Technology Lending collection, please check in with us at lib_media@douglascollege.ca. We’ll be in touch about what’s available and how to borrow.

Reserves

For faculty, a new course syllabus service allows you to submit your syllabus to the Library and we will search our digital collections to find electronic versions of items listed, scan physical items where appropriate, purchase electronic versions when possible, and suggest electronic alternatives if needed. These will be accessible via your Course Reserves page through the Library's online reserves portal. For more information and to submit your syllabus use the course syllabus request form.

Interlibrary Loans

Canadian interlibrary loan systems have reduced, or ceased, their services which limits what we can obtain for our students, faculty, and staff.  Since we can no longer obtain physical items from other libraries, requests for physical items will be temporarily unavailable. Similarly, requests from other libraries for Douglas Library materials will also be unavailable.

Requests for articles, chapters, and the like, will continue with delivery in digital formats to the extent possible.

To our ILL borrowing libraries, please hold on to our items (and we will hold on to yours) until such time as we can re-open our library. For questions, please contact Christine Fojas.

Research Help

The library has many research guides to help you get started with your research and using the best sources. You can connect online with a librarian in severl ways:

Online Instruction for Faculty

All in-person library instruction has been suspended until further notice, however we have moved to a online model, bringing together resources that can be used by your students asynchronously. Book an online learning session at the library, also please see our Teaching and Learning Online guide including resources for Douglas College faculty as they move to online instruction. For additional information, please contact Shannon Moist.

Equipment & Space

The Library is working to re-develop our Equipment and Technology Lending service model for Fall semester. In the meantime, if you’re looking for something from our Equipment and Technology Lending collection, please check in with us at lib_media@douglascollege.ca. We’ll be in touch about what’s available and how to borrow. .

If you require access to a computer lab, please check the College website for room availability on the day of the visit, and call Security at the specific campus for confirmation on the access points. There is limited access to the College at the moment.

Learning Centre

As Douglas College transitions to online classes, the Learning Centre has moved all of the tutoring online to continue to support you in your learning.
